Homemade Popcorn | How to make Popcorn in Pressure Cooker

Whenever I feel bored and have nothing to do, I will just go to kitchen, follow this simple method. Come back with a bowl full of popcorn and turn on the TV. Popcorn is a perfect snack when you are watching movies and cricket matches. It takes only a few seconds of effortless shaking of the pressure cooker. It pop pop pop and finally you get a perfectly cooked,fluffy and crunchy popcorn. You can eat it plain. But adding a spoon of butter makes it special. Its a quick and easy snack to accompany your family movie night.

How to make Popcorn in Pressure Cooker

I have heard once that popcorn is not suitable for children under age 4. Because the outer skin may stuck into their throat which may lead to breathing problem. So if you are a mom of a kid watch them carefully. A simple and inexpensive gourmet snack.

Popcorn

Ingredients:

Popcorn kernel - 1/3 cup
Butter - 2 tblspn or more(optional)
Oil - 3 tblspn
Salt - to taste

Method:

Heat oil in a pressure cooker or pan over medium heat. If you are using frying pan please make sure that you can easily lift and shake.

Once the oil is hot, put 2-3 kernels and wait until it pops.

It will take a few minutes for the first pop, but once the popcorn starts popping, add the rest of the kernel. 

Close the cooker with a good lid(do not put weight) and shake continuously until the popcorn is popped. This will prevent the popcorn from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.

When the popcorn sounds slow down, remove the cooker to avoid burning the popcorn.

Mix the hot popcorn with salt and butter. Toss to even coat.

You can add any seasoning you like. Enjoy!!

Notes:

  • Chilli powder, garlic and cumin give this popcorn a kick.
  • Do not put weight to cooker.
  • Remove any unpopped kernels.
  • You can also coat the oil before placing it inside the cooker.

    When the sound slows down, mix the hot popcorn with salt and butter. Toss to even coat.
