Ratha Poriyal Recipe | Goat Blood Fry | Lamb Blood Stir Fry

Ratha Poriyal is a dish prepared with goats blood. Many cultures consume blood as a food. Sources says people of different countries used to consume blood in the form of soup or as thickener for sauces. It is mostly consumed at the time of food scarcity. Similarly some parts of india consume the goat blood as a poriyal. It is a delicious stir fry made with finely chopped onions and addition of coconut gives a nice taste to the dish. It will be liked by meat lovers. But for non meat lover this recipe will be very weird and disgusting. So if you feel it disgusting please skip this post.

Ingredients:

Goat blood - 1.5 cups (approx)

Onion - 2

Red chilli - 4

Grated coconut - 1 cup

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves - a sprig

Salt - to taste

Oil - 2 tblspn

Method:

Goat blood will turn into thick solid form after few hours. Clean it with water and break them into pieces so that it will get cooked well.

Heat oil in a pan, pop some mustard seeds. Add in curry leaves, cumin seeds, broken red chillies and chopped onions.

When onion becomes translucent, add in goat blood. Stir fry for few minutes, add in salt to taste and continue stirring until it changes color and cooked well.

Add in grated coconut and saute for 2 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and remove from flame.

Serve hot!

Cut onion and red chilli into small pieces. Keep some grated coconut ready.

Goat blood will turn to a thick solid form in a couple of hours

Wash the blood and break it into pieces. Make it almost to the liquid form so that it will taste better when you fry it. It is not broken properly

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds

When mustard seeds begins to pop, add in curry leaves

broken red chillies

and finely chopped onions

Add some cumin seeds

Saute well until onions become translucent

Now, add the goat blood

Stir fry for 5 minutes

Add salt to taste and keep stirring

Once it changes color and cooked properly

add in grated coconut

Saute for 2 minutes

Garnish with coriander leaves
