Kollu Sundal | Horsegram Sundal | Easy Sundal Recipes

Kollu Sundal
Today's recipe is a two in one recipe which is made with horse gram. I made a sundal using horsegram and used the cooked water to make kollu rasam. Horse gram or kollu is one of the nutritious legume which helps to reduce weight. I will post the recipe for kollu rasam soon. Here is the recipe for kollu sundal.

Prep Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time: 15 mins | Serves: 3

Ingredients:

Kollu / Horsegram - 1 cup
Grated coconut - 3 tblspn
Red chilli - 4
Asafoetida - a pinch
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Salt - to taste
Oil - 1 tblspn

Method:

Soak the kollu in water overnight. Drain excess water and pressure cook adding 2 cups of water. Strain the cooked water and use it for making kollu rasam.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add in asafoetida, broken chilli, curry leaves.

Add in grated coconut and stir fry for a minute. Then add the kollu and stir well for a minute.

Serve.

Ingredients for sundal
Keep all your ingredients ready. Soak the horse gram overnight and pressure cook it adding 2 cups of water. Strain the water and use it for making rasam
pop mustard seeds
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and wait till it pops
seasoning
Add in broken red chilli and curry leaves. Saute the chilli till changes its color
asafoetida added
Add a pinch of asafoetida
grated coconut
Saute the grated coconut for a minute
cooked sundal
Add in cooked kollu
saute
Mix well and put off the flame
Horsegram Sundal
Kollu sundal is ready to serve.
