

Anyway, so obviously being a huge fan of sirukizhangu I love this dish so much. Try it in the next season and post your valuable comments.
Sirukizhangu Kootu
Ingredients:
Sirukizhangu / Koorkan kizhangu - 15
Green gram dal / sirupayatham paruppu - 3/4 cup
Tomato - 1
Green chilli - 6
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup
Small onion - 8
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
To Temper:
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - a sprig
Oil - 1 tblspn
Method:
Grind together coconut and small onion without adding water.
Wash and cook potato until done. Cool down and peel its skin. Cut them into small cubes.
Dry roast(or add few drops of oil) green gram dal and split it with a help of mortar. Blow off unwanted skins.
Pressure cook split green gram dal along with tomato, green chilli, turmeric and mash it.
Then, add chopped potatoes to this dal, add in little water and salt.
Cook until water reduces and remove from flame.
Do the tempering add to this and mix well.
Serve with rice, rasam. Enjoy.
Note:
- Taste will be better in whole green gram than in skinless moong dal.

Soak sirukizhangu in water for 5 mins so that it will be easy to remove the sands |

Pressure cook for 3 whistles. When pressure is released, peel its skin and chop them into small pieces |

You can cook for 5 to 10 mins with the lids open or pressure cook for 2 whistles |
