I love cauliflower
in any forms. It can be a fry, manchurian or stir fry. My Amma used to
make this recipe rarely. Even when I don't feel hungry, on hearing the
word sambar and cauliflower, my mouth started to drool. Flavour of fennel seeds give this recipe a kick. Anyway, being a big fan of cauliflower I love this dish a lot.
Cauliflower Poriyal
Ingredients:
Cauliflower- 1/2
Medium size Onion - 1
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Oil - 2 tblspn
Salt - as needed
To grind:
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds / Perunjeeragam - 2 tsp
Red Chilli - 4

Method:
Finely chop cauliflower. Grind all the ingredients listed in "to grind" without adding water.
Heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard seeds.
When it started to crackle, add onion curry leaves. Sauté until onion becomes soft and translucent.
Add finely chopped cauliflower. Sauté for few mins.
Add ground coconut paste, turmeric and salt.
Stir well to coat evenly. Sauté for 2-3 mins. Switch off the gas.
Serve with sambar and rice. Enjoy!

Soak the florets in hot water to remove any impurities and worms. Finely chop the florets |
Grind coconut, fennel seeds, cumin and red chilli without adding water |
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves |
When mustard seeds begin to crackle, add chopped onion |
Once onion turns translucent, add the finely chopped cauliflower |
When cauliflower gets cooked, add the coconut paste, salt |
And turmeric. Saute for 2 to 3 mins |
Serve with Rice and Sambar |
