Paruppu Idli Upma

Ingredients:
Idli Rice - 1 cup
Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Urad dal - 1/4 cup
To make upma:(For 6 idlies)
Onion - 2
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli - 8
Curry leaves - a sprig
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 3 tblspn
Method:
Soak idli rice, toor dal and urad dal separately for 2 hours and grind them into a fine batter. Allow this to ferment overnight or for 8 hours.
The next morning add in salt and mix well. Pour this batter in a idli pan and make idlis. Once cooled crumble the idli and keep aside.
Heat a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Once mustard seeds splutters, add broken red chillies.
When it begins to change its color, add in turmeric, salt and crumbled idli. Stir well for 2 to 3 minutes. Add little gun powder if required.
Serve with desired chutney.

Note:
- You can serve it as plain idli or plain dosa as well.

First grind urad dal. Once it is nicely ground add toor dal and idli rice. Grind to a smooth batter |

Steam cook the idli for 8 minutes |
Cool the idlies and crumble it before preparing upma |

Add in chopped onion, curry leaves and saute till it becomes soft |
Add little salt to taste |
1/4 tsp of turmeric is added |
Then add the crumbled idlies |
Stir fry for 3 minutes. If you wish, add little gun powder |
It is ready. Serve with your favorite chutney. |
