Mint Paratha Recipe

Mint Paratha is another flatbread that actually originated in the north of India. It is usually made with either fresh mint leaves or dry mint leaves. Also it can be rolled out like a chapati or a lacha paratha. Today I saw some fresh mint leaves in the market and picked one from them. And was thinking on recipes made with mint. Suddenly this paratha strikes my mind. So I thought to share the recipe with you. This recipe is for everyone who refuses to add mint in life. Here is the recipe for mint paratha.

Mint Paratha Recipe

Ingredients:

Wheat flour - 2 cup
Mint leaves / Pudhina - 1 bunch
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Garlic - 3 pods
Green chilli - 1
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Chat masala - 1 tsp (optional)
Salt - to taste
Water - to knead dough
Oil - 1 tblspn for kneading
Butter / Ghee / Oil - as needed to spread on the top

Method:

Finely chop the mint leaves.

Grind mint leaves, garlic, ginger and green chilli and cumin powder into a smooth puree adding little water. You can also saute the mint leaves till it shrinks. You can add chat masala at this stage or during the final step
In a bowl, take the wheat flour, mint puree, salt, oil and give it a mix. Add little water and knead them well to make a soft dough.

Roll the dough and divide into equal sized balls.

Take a ball and press them through the sides to get circular shape with your fingers. Roll them into a circular paratha with the help of a rolling pin.

Now fold it crisscross to make layers as we do take pleats. And flatten them again into a circle(I rolled them like a chapati. Shape can be a circle triangle or square.)

Heat the tava, place the paratha and smear little butter or ghee over the top.

When it gets brown, turn it to the other side and apply some ghee. When both the sides gets cooked, remove from flame.

Serve hot with curd or your favorite accompaniment.

Note:
  • You can fry mint leaves till it shrink its size before pureeing them.
