Onion Podi Uthappam
Recipe Cuisine: South Indian | Recipe Category: Breakfast
Prep Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time:5 mins | Serves:2
Ingredients:
Dosa batter - 2 cups
Onion - 1, large
Idli podi / Gun powder - as required (2 to 3 tsp per dosa)
Salt - to taste
Sesame oil / Nallennai - as required
Method:
Finely chop the onion and keep aside. Mix the dosa batter with salt and water. The batter should not be very thick.
Heat
a skillet or cast iron pan. Once the pan becomes hot, take a ladleful
of dosa batter and pour it on the skillet. If the batter is thin it will
spread automatically.
Add enough podi immediately all around the dosa and sprinkle some chopped onions. Drizzle oil over the dosa. This process should be done immediately after pouring the batter. At this stage the podi and onion will stick to the batter well.
Once cooked, flip to the other side. Cook for some time and serve with chutney or sambar.
Note:
Note:
- Clean the skillet with a kitchen towel after each dosa.
