Chermoula Prawn / Moroccon Grilled Prawn is a super simple and delicious starter. Chermoula is a marinade used in some of the countries like Libya, Morocco and Algeria. This marinade is used for vegetables, seafood and meat. You can use the same procedure for both grilling and frying. You can add chilli powder to this as per your preference. Now, you can do magical taste at home just like the restaurant food. Serve this spicy morccan prawn with lemon wedges and mint chutney.

Spicy Moroccan Prawn | Chermoula Prawn

Prawn - 400 gm
Garlic - 4
Green chilli - 1
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tblspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Lemon - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves - 2 tblspn
Olive oil - 3 tblspn

Optional Ingredients:

Onion - 1, cubed
Capsicum - 1/2, diced
Tomato - 1, deseeded


In a large bowl, take oil, crushed garlic, chilli powder, black pepper, cumin powder, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, green chilli, lemon juice, coriander leaves and salt. Combine everything together.

Remove the head and shells of the prawn and marinate in the above spice mix. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Soak the skewers in water for 15 mins. Skewer the prawn, onion and capsicum. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.

Serve with lemon wedges!

  • You can also shallow fry the prawn in a tawa.
  • You can add little parsley to this.

Keep all your ingredients ready
Remove the head and shells of the prawn, clean it twice and take it in a large bowl, add chopped green chilli
Add chilli powder, cumin powder, pepper powder and turmeric.
Crushed garlic and salt is added
Add in ginger garlic paste
Add some coriander leaves
2 tsp of lemon juice is added
Add little olive oil
Combine everything together
Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Soak the skewers in water for 15 mins. Skewer the prawn, onion and capsicum.
Grill for 3 minutes on each side. Drizzle little oil or butter while grilling(You can also shallow fry it in tawa)
Chermoula Prawn Ready
Serve with lemon wedges and mint chutney!
