Ingredients:

Raw Plaintain - 2
Onion  - 1, optional
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Sambar powder - 1/2 tsp, optional
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Oil - 1 tblspn

Method:

Cook the plaintain for 3 whistles or till its outer skin comes out.Chop the cooked banana into small cubes.

In a kadai, heat 1 tablespoon of oil. When oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds and urad dal.

Once mustard seeds starts to splutter, add the sliced onion. Saute till it becomes soft.

Then, add the chopped plaintain cubes and stir fry for 1 minute.

Add in sambar powder, chilli powder, turmeric and salt to taste. Stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes and put off the flame.

Serve with rice and your favorite curry.


Note:
  • You can skip adding onion.
  • Adding sambar powder is optional.

Keep all your ingredients ready. You can also add onion to this
Cook the banana
Cook the banana for 3 to 4 whitles till the outer skin comes out
Peel and cut into cubes
Peel its skin and cut them into small cubes
do tempering
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. Once it splutters add urad dal
saute onion
Add in sliced onion and curry leaves. Since onion is optional i did not mention in the ingredients list
add cooked banana
When the onion becomes soft, add the cubed banana and stir fry for a minute
add spices
Now, add chilli powder, sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt
Saute for 2 to 3 minutes and put off the flame
Raw Plantain Fry Ready
Its ready!
