Homemade Fish Finger Recipe
Fish finger is one of the food kids loves to devour. Here succulent pieces of fish is battered, coated with breadcrumbs, subtle spices and deep fried in oil to get a crispy texture. My son love to order breaded fish and chicken whenever we go out to eat. He loves to eat them with mayonnaise and tomato ketchup. So I make this at home often. Here is the recipe for finger fish.

Fish Finger

Prep Time: 5 mins | Marination Time: 30 mins | Cooking Time: 10 mins | Serves: 3

Ingredients:

For marination:
Fish fillet - 250 gm( I used Tilapia)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Soy sauce - 1/2 tsp (or use lemon juice)
Salt - to taste
Oil - little for frying

To Coat:
Egg - 1
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Bread crumbs - as required
(Alternatively u can replace egg with rice flour, Maida or corn flour)

Method:

Cut the fish fillets into long bite sized strips.

In a mixing bowl, combine the fish strips with ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, pepper powder, soy sauce, salt and rub thoroughly. Marinate the fish for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, crack an egg in a bowl, and add in chilli powder, pepper powder, salt and whisk it till it is combined.

Dip the marinated fish in egg mixture and drip off the excess. Finally put the egg smeared fish in bread crumbs and coat evenly.

Heat oil in a pan, and fry the coated fish in medium flame till golden brown.

Drain excess oil and serve with mayonnaise or tomato ketchup. Enjoy!

Notes:

  • You can replace soy sauce with lemon juice.
  • You can also replace egg with flours.

After 30 minutes, crack an egg in a bowl, and add in pepper powder

add in chilli powder, salt and whisk it till it is combined.

Dip the marinated fish in egg mixture and drip off the excess.

You can also replace egg with flours. this is optional. but i prefer egg

Coat all the fish strips with the bread crumbs

Heat oil in a pan, and fry the coated fish in medium flame till golden brown.

When i tasted fish finger with flour coated and egg coated, the one with egg mixture tasted really very good

Fry the remaining fingers the same way
