Homemade Khoya
Khoya Barfi Recipe| Mawa Burfi
Recipe Cuisine: North Indian | Recipe Category: Desserts
Prep Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time: 20 mins | Makes: 10 to 15
Ingredients:
Unsweetened Khoya / Mawa - 250 gms (Recipe Here)
(obtained from 1 litre of milk)
Sugar - 1/4 to 1/2 cup( depending on your taste)
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Almond - 10, finely chopped
Pistachio - 10, finely chopped plus 4 for garnishing
Saffron - a pinch
Milk - 1 tblspn
Ghee - to grease the pan
Method:
First grease the pan lined with butter paper or aluminium foil with ghee.
Chop the pistachio and almond into small pieces.
In a pan, take the crumbled khoya and stir for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame.
Add sugar to it and stir well so that sugar melts and become slightly thin.
Stir well for 5 to 10 minutes and add the chopped nuts and cardamom powder. Mix it well and switch off the flame.
Pour this mixture into the greased pan and spread evenly. Mix the saffron in 1 tablespoon of milk and pour this over the burfi.
Cut them into desired shapes and top with sliced pistachio. Remove the pieces and serve once cooled down.
Note:
- You can use either khoya prepared at home or store bought.
- You can store this in refrigerator for upto 4 days in a air tight container.
