Instant Oats Idli / Indian Oats Breafast Recipe


Oats idli is a healthy way to start a day. It is also quick and easy to prepare. Use oats and semolina for this healthy breakfast.  Also, it does not require any fermentation process, so you do this any time. It has a considerable amount of fibre which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, lower bad cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease keep you regular, and keep you fuller longer. How can you not try this after knowing its health benefits?


Start your day off right with this nutritious breakfast.

Ingredients:
Oats – 1 cup
Rava / Sooji / Semolina – 1/2 cup
Grated Carrot – 1 medium size
Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
Curd – cup
Water – as required
Asafoetida – ½ tsp
Baking Soda – a pinch
Salt – to taste
Coriander leaves – few (finely chopped)
To Temper:
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal / Uzhundhu paruppu– 1 tsp
Channa dal / Kadalai paruppu– 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Oil – as required

Method:
In a pan, dry roast oats and rawa separately for 4 to 5 minutes till a nice aroma comes. Keep aside and let it cool.

Heat little oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal and curry leaves. Then add green chilli followed by grated carrot. Sauté for a minute.

Now add this to the powdered mixture. Add salt, turmeric, curd and water and mix well until you get idly batter consistency.

Pour the batter in idly plates and steam for around 15 minutes.

Serve with chutney of your choice.

Notes:

  • For better taste try masala oats.
  • You can also add garam masala before adding carrot.
