This recipe is sinfully easy to make. You don't want to spend long time in kitchen. It only takes 10 minutes to cook this. And you don't want to be nearby all the time. It is seriously very very easy to make. The only hardest part in this dish is peeling the skin of onion.

ingredients. You can skip even dry chillies, fenugreek and make it even
more simpler. I hope you will try this at home. Here goes the recipe.
Vengaya Kara Kuzhambu

Prep Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time: 15 mins | Serves: 3 to 4
Ingredients:
Shallots / Small Onion - 20
Tamarind - small lemon sized
Sambar powder - 3 tblspn
Jaggery - 1 tsp
Red Chilli - 1(optional)
Salt - as needed
To Temper:
Musard seeds - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - a sprig
Fenugreek - 1/4 tsp(optional)
Gingelly oil / Nallenai - 2tblspn
Method:
Soak tamarind in warm water and extract its juice. Peel the skin of onions and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. When it starts to splutter, add fenugreek(optional), channa dal.
Add in onions, sauté for 2mins until it becomes soft.
Add sambar powder and curry leaves. Sauté for few seconds.
Then, add in tamarind extract,salt and 2 cups of water.
Close the lid and cook for 10-15mins at medium heat. When the oil separates and remove from heat.
Serve hot with rice and pappad. Enjoy!
Note:
- Adding fenugreek and red chilli is optional. You can skip this too.
- If you want it to be thick add a tsp of rice flour.
- If you do not have jaggery, you can add sugar.
