Fafda Recipe
Fafda is a deep fried snack made from chick pea flour. It is a popular snack in Gujarat. This  crunchy snack could be loved by all kids. It can be served with chutney or eaten along with sweets like jelebi.

Prep Time: 30 mins | cooking Time: 10 mins | Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Bengal gram flour / Kadalai Maavu - 2 cups
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp ( or Pepper powder)
Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric - a pinch, optional
Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - 1/3 cup, approx
Oil - to deep fry + 3 tblspn

Method:

In a large mixing bowl, sieve gram flour, add salt, baking soda, ajwain, chilli powder, asafoetida and turmeric powder. Knead to a soft dough adding little warm water. Pour 3 tablespoon of oil and knead again for 5 minutes. Keep aside for 20 minutes.

Divide the dough into equal sized balls. Take a small oval ball, flatten by pressing with your palms and drag to roll out to a long thin layered strips.

Deep fry the strips in hot oil over medium flame till it turns crispy.

Serve hot with spicy chutney or fried green chilli.

Note:
  • If you feel sticky and difficult to take, dip in oil and roll again.

Keep all your ingredients ready
Combine everything
In a mixing bowl, sieve flour, add chilli powder, baking soda, salt and ajwain
knead with water
Knead to a saft dough adding enough warm water
apply oil
Add 3 tablespoon of oil and knead again for 5 minutes. Keep it aside for 20 minutes
divide balls
Roll the dough and divide into equal sized balls
Make oval sized dough
press it
Take one dough and flatten with pressing it with your palm and drag it to get a long thin layered stripes
remove with knife
Take the thin stripes with a knife
Flatten the other balls and keep it aside
deep fry
Heat oil to deep fry and fry till it becomes crispy
drain
Drain excess oil and transfer it to a serving plaste
Gujarati Fafda Ready
