How to Cook Rice in Pressure Cooker/ Plain Rice

Here is my first blog. I have seen many cooking websites posting various kinds of recipes. I have learned and impressed from many websites which inspired me to start a blog.

After deciding to start, one thing came across my mind. How a beginner can try those dishes without knowing how to boil rice. So I decided to start my blog with some cooking basics. This may help beginners a lot. Here comes my first blog on how to cook rice in a pressure cooker.

Ingredients:

Rice - 1 cup

Water – 2 cups (depends on the rice used)

Method:

Take one cup rice in a vessel. Wash it thoroughly until you see clear water. Do this only if it needs a rinsing. Some rice varieties are fortified with vitamins/supplements and you may not need to wash it. But it is always advisable to wash it at least once. Drain water and keep aside.

Take rice in a pressure cooker and pour two cups of water. Some varieties of rice may need less or more water. Make sure the water level covers the rice. Fit the rubber gasket and close the lid of the pressure cooker. Check whether it locks firmly.

Place the pressure cooker on the stove and wait for some time. When the steam starts escaping through the vent place the weight (also called metallic valve).

Wait for 3 to 4 whistles and switch off the stove. Do not open immediately.

Set it aside for 15 minutes until pressure goes down.

Open the cooker and your rice is ready. Done!!!

  1. The ergonomic stay cool handles are comfortable to the touch and won't retain heat. The durable aluminum body features a nonstick coating that makes cleanup a breeze.
